With Whale Watching, Bear Watching, Hot Springs Cove, kayaking, and hiking, visiting the west coast of Vancouver Island is the perfect place for a day-trip, weekend getaway, or home.

In Clayoquot and Barkley Sounds, we most often view Pacific Gray Whales. The Gray whale migration from Baja California, Mexico begins to arrive along the west coast of Vancouver Island in early February and continues through late April. From April through November, we have over 200 ‘Resident’ Gray whales that stay feeding in our waters. Humpback whales can be seen throughout our season, with the heaviest sightings in February and June through September. We also see Orcas (Killer whales), about once every 2-3 weeks throughout the year.

While you are exploring with us on open ocean waters, please be advised that it is often a lot colder on the water than on land. We recommend dressing in several layers of warm clothing for all tours, as well as a waterproof layer, and sunglasses. Large, full body ‘cruiser suits’, as well as toques and gloves, are provided for tours aboard our open, zodiac-style vessels.
